Following a fantastic Festival in 2016, we’re very excited to announce that planning for SouthWestFest 2017 is well under-way! We have some brilliant new workshops and performances in the pipeline as well as planned improvements to our much loved annual events.
Update your diary now, the festival begins on the 30th of June for the Pimlico Proms, the 1st of July for the Festival Gala day and Parade, plus plenty of events up until the 16th of July.
But now it’s time for YOU to get involved. SouthWestFest provides a great opportunity for local residents, groups, organisations, businesses large and small take part and celebrate the SW1 community.
This year’s festival theme is SW OneWorld celebrating our multicultural community. Read on below for more information on how you can get involved.
At our Proms on the 30th of June or Festival Day on the 1st of July 2017. SouthWestFest is a charity run event and our festival day is a free event for the local community. The aim of providing the stage is that it is a platform to promote local community groups and performers. We do not have budgets to pay for performances, however we hope through providing a public platform to showcase your work, you will be able to promote yourself or your group to a large diverse audience within the Westminster community.
Join our SW OneWorld Parade!
This event is to celebrate the children and young people and services that support them across SW1.On Saturday 1st of July a pedestrian procession will take to the streets to celebrate the vibrant and creative community of SW1. Last year 250 local children, young people and adults dressed-up and danced through the streets. This year we aim to make it even bigger and better – with your help.
Join the Parade!
This year’s children’s parade SW One-World. We want to inspire the next generation to celebrate our multi-cultural community, your parade group could choose to dress as your favourite flag, in a traditional costume or by dress or style inspired by your favourite countries.
Produce Your Own Event and Feature it in our Brochure!
Our festival dates are between the 30th of June and the 16th of July. The festival is open access and we encourage local community groups, organisations, artists, creatives and individuals to host their own events, activities and workshops as part of this community celebration.
The aim of the festival is to get local community members out into the area to try new activities and learn about groups, services and venues around where they live. We’ll add your event to our Festival Brochure which will be distributed to 10,000 homes and public spaces in the area, plus we will add your event to our website too.
So we hope you feel inspired to take part in SouthWestFest 2017. Our deadline for getting your events, activities and performances in our brochure is the 21st of April, so please send us your details as soon as possible.
If you have any questions in the meantime please email firstname.lastname@example.org for more information.
Looking forward to working with you all this summer!
