We are an open access cultural community festival and we encourage you to come and take part. From hosting your own event to performing, taking part in the parade or having a stall at our Festival Day, there are plenty of ways you can get involved in the Festival in 2018.

Festival Parade

Our Festival Parade

Last year 250 local children, young people and adults dressed-up and danced through the streets. This year we aim to make it even bigger and better – with your help.

On Saturday 30th June a pedestrian procession will take to the streets to celebrate the vibrant and creative community of SW1. Last year 250 local children, young people and adults dressed-up and danced through the streets. This year we aim to make it even bigger and better – with your help.

The Parade starts at 12pm but we will meet a little before to get into position and warm up. When we get closer to the day we will send detailed instructions and the route for the day. Following feedback we have shortened the route so it will take no more than half hour. The parade will end in St George’s Square where you will join the Festival Day and can take part in all the fun on offer.

What is the theme?

This year’s theme is Every Voice!

Our festival theme is Every Voice with the aim to give a voice to local residents, families and children, empowering them to come together, strengthen their community and make positive changes. The theme Every Voice has been chosen to celebrate Vote 100, but also to promote equality, diversity and togetherness across our community in 2018.

Wear the green, purple and white colours of suffrage or hold your Every Voice banner with pride! Make your own placards, sashes and rosettes with slogans shouting about what matters of you, slogans of positivity, pride, bringing our community together.

Get involved:

We are inviting schools, youth clubs, children’s services and community groups to take part, get creative and be part of their local community.

Produce your own event

Sign up and promote your own event as part of SouthWestFest! Register an event/workshop/activity as part of SouthWestFest. Our festival dates are between the 29th of June and the 15th of July. The festival is open access and we encourage local community groups, organisations, artists, creatives and individuals to host their own events as part of this community celebration.

Register your event and it will be advertised in our brochure which is distributed to over 10,000 homes and people, and on our website, visited by thousands during June and July.

However we do ask that events registered in the brochure are either free or very low cost and we retain the right to not promote events we feel are un-affordable activities. This is because the aim of the festival is to get local community members out into the area to try new activities and learn about groups, services and venues around where they live.

The festival team produces our main outdoor events the Pimlico Proms and the Community Festival Day on the 29th of June and the 30th of July and other events take place as part of the festival in the weeks after.

Please provide the information requested below in order for us to list your event in our festival brochure. Please ensure all spelling is correct as this information will be used for the print copy of our brochure and flyers.
