Story of Two Stars with Coco Sato

Coco Sato joins SouthWestFest as our Artist in Residence for the 2021 festival, her work will be featured at our Art Trail partner venue Westminster Abbey.

Coco will be working on a special community art commission and installation project called Story of Two Stars – celebrating Tanabata the Japanese Star Festival. Tanabata (七夕), takes place on the 7th day of the 7th month of the year, it’s a tradition dating back to 8th century in Japan originating in an ancient Chinese legend, the two stars Altair and Vega, which are usually separated from each other by the milky way, are able to meet.

Saturday 3rd of July at Westminster Abbey 11am – 12pm – Tanabata Paper Art Workshop for All Ages

Wednesday 7th of July, 6pm – 7pm – Tanabata Online Origami Workshop on Zoom
